Updating Cubit Software - October 2009

The updates on all vertical versions to versions 3.3 has gone quite smoothly, the issues that were experienced were:

Issue number One:
Versions Affected: Only Cubit Professional, (All other versions Cubit Manufacturing, Cubit Property, etc. are not affected)

Balance Sheet data corruption message - This message is there because of the new integrity features that compare balances, the movement columns on any balance sheet will probably never balance, so this error can be ignored. The day release service release of 33f already contains a fix for this problem.

Issues Affecting multiple versions:
Old quotations not display on View function - The day release service release of 33f already contains a fix for this problem.

Multiple support issues:
Singularly, the greatest support issue (171 tickets) was that multiple company systems did not update company versions to version 3.3 (from 3.2)

Support was ONLY required at clients that chose to install updates themselves (mostly small two and three man companies) and that did not employ the services of a Cubit dealer (or Certified Technician)

Future possible solutions:
Educate clients more in the reading of error messages or force all clients to make use of certified installers, problem is that many companies cannot afford to pay the few hundred rands that the installers will be charging. So, no current solution for this problem...

Other support issues were that clients that installed updates themselves, did not do so in time to avoid loss of system access. Solution: Educate the smaller clients that the system will stop working again in April and that they will again be forced to install updates as the system cannot function accurately with old payroll, taxes and other old functions.

There are NO dealer errors or support requirements - Well Done to all and specially well done to brand new dealers like CMS Computer Services in Port Elizabeth that updated clients with no problems and support issues.
